On December 2nd, our 4th Year students visited Antequera Museum of Textile Industry, after having researched into the main characteristics of the Industrial Revolution and the main features of Business Strategic plans. This activity combines the curriculum of three subjects: history, economics and IAEE, into one common unit (Unidad Integrada), with shared guidelines and materials.
The visit started with a morning walk with our guide in the nearby hills, from where they could see the location of all the textile industrial estate. After that, a short visit to Henchidero gardens followed, in which our students could see an old water wheel in operation. A video and the visit to the museum completed the activity.
During the visit, students could check what they had previously learned in History. They had the opportunity to see some of the artifacts on display, such as: a spinning jenny, a flying shuttle, a loom, or a jacquard loom.
In addition to that, they could see documents, advertisements and products that belonged to old textile companies which operated in Antequera. Our pupils were able to analyse the main business outlines of the companies and look for similarities and differences between old and new business strategies.
